Dada

Milani

2025

An unconventional approach, typical of those who aim to dismantle stereotypes rather than perpetuate them, lies at the heart of Dada, the furniture collection designed for Milani, which leads the Venetian company, in the year of its 50th anniversary, toward notes of irony and measured provocation.
Dada is a hybrid system of fixed and modular sofas conceived for both living spaces and high-end contract environments. What distinguishes the three pieces that make up the collection - a lounge chair, a two-seater, and a three-seater sofa - is the suspended seat: visually light, designed to integrate with refined charisma in both hospitality settings and residential interiors.
At the core of the project is the flexibility of the backrests and armrests, which adapt to the base modules and allow for a wide range of configurations - fixed or modular - based on spatial needs.
This is where Dada’s unconventionality comes into play-aptly named after the most irreverent avant-garde movement of the last century: as backrests and armrests meet at the corners, they break traditional symmetries and introduce a new stylistic language-playful and vibrant. The forms, perfectly wrapped around the cushioning, open up at an angle of about 30 degrees, defining the edge and revealing a sliver of light: a formal gesture that lends visual lightness and dynamism to the composition. On the inner side, the backrest and armrest are soft and generous, creating a harmonious dialogue that defines the space and is completed by a sense of mutual balance.

"Milani immediately struck us as a solid company with a significant history, but at the same time driven by a strong desire to evolve and challenge itself - embracing change with enthusiasm. This mindset resonates with the very concrete design approach of our studio: we like to listen, analyze, and then translate a brand’s values into products that speak to users with the right tone. We believe every object should have a soul, a story, a message. For us, ‘content is king’ is not just a slogan, but a guiding principle. This shared vision led to the creation of Dada: a brief centered on change, on the transition from the contract world to the residential one. A challenge we embraced by designing a chameleon-like system, naturally suited to inhabit diverse spaces - balanced between public and private.”
